A preliminary study published in the American Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias in 2010, in which 21 moderate to severe Alzheimer’s patients participated indicated that drinking apple juice at a rate of 2-4 cups per day for a month may contribute to alleviating some of the symptoms associated with the disease, such as improving mood and behavior, but apple juice consumption was not associated with improving memory or mental function in these patients. Apple juice can contribute to maintaining levels of the neurotransmitter called acetylcholine, whose levels may decrease with age, and low levels of this neurotransmitter may be associated with Alzheimer’s disease.

- It is recommended to dilute the juice before drinking it to rehydrate, because the clear juice contains a high percentage of sugar, which can draw excess water into the intestines, and worsen diarrhea, and apple juice may worsen diarrhea in infants.

- Allergy medication : taking apple juice with an allergy medication known as fexofenadine may hinder the absorption of the drug in the body.
- Diabetes medications : as mentioned earlier, eating apple juice may cause high blood sugar levels, and therefore eating apples or their juice with diabetes medications may make it difficult to control blood sugar; examples of these drugs are : Glimepiride, Glyburide, Insulin, Pioglitazone, and Rosiglitazone, chlorpropamide, glipizide, and tolbutamide.
- High blood pressure medications : drinking apple juice with high blood pressure medications may interfere with the ability to control blood pressure, such as Captopril, Enalapril, Losartan, Valsartan, Diltiazem, Amlodipine, Hydrochlorothiazide, and Furosemide.
